This Privacy Policy explains how TheFinanceGuys.ca (“TheFinanceGuys”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit this website. TheFinanceGuys.ca is a personal-finance information site. We are not a lender and we do not collect loan applications on this site; where a page links to an application, that form is operated by a partner platform under its own privacy policy. We handle personal information in line with the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, where they apply, the private-sector privacy laws of Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec.
What we collect
Information you give us. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive your name, email address and whatever you write to us.
Information collected automatically. Standard technical logs such as your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view and the page that referred you. We use essential cookies to keep the site working and may use analytics cookies to understand how visitors use the site. You can refuse cookies in your browser settings.
Referral tracking. When you click an “apply” or product link, the destination site may record that you arrived from TheFinanceGuys.ca so that a referral fee can be attributed. We receive aggregate reporting, such as counts of applications and funded loans, not your personal or financial details.
How we use it

Who we share it with
Service providers that host the website, run our email and store our records, under contracts that restrict them to working on our behalf; and authorities where the law requires it. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with advertisers for their own marketing. Information you enter on a partner’s application form is governed by that partner’s privacy policy, not ours.
How long we keep it
Contact messages are kept as long as needed to respond and for our records, then deleted. Technical logs are kept for security purposes for a limited period.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or withdraw consent to marketing. Use our contact page with “Privacy request” in the subject and we will respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
This site is intended for Canadian residents aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Links to other sites
We link to lenders, product providers, government resources and other third parties. Their privacy practices are their own; review their policies before providing information.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
